Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos is the largest international airport in Greece, serving the city of Athens and region of Attica. It began operation on 28 March 2001 (in time for the 2004 Summer Olympics) and is the main base of Aegean Airlines, as well as other smaller Greek airlines. It replaced the old Ellinikon International Airport and it’s the busiest and largest in the Balkans.

 

Transport to Patras

 

By Car (~2h 30m)
The fastest way to reach Patra is by car. From the airport to get to Patras by car is 240km in a completely new high way. Take the Attiki Odos Athens by-pass highway towards Elefsina. Toll rates for Attiki Odos.

Continue the to the new constructed highway Olympia Odos towards Patras. Toll rates for Olympia Odos.

By Train (~3h)
With 10 daily round-trip routes, modern trains and upgraded services, TRAINOSE connects most of the country’s Prefectures, from Athens international airport Venizelos to Patras.

Use the Suburban Railway System (Proastiakos) from the airport to the Kiato station on the Peloponnese. Once at the Kiato station, you can use the same ticket from the Suburban Railway System (Proastiakos) to take the OSE bus to Patras. The OSE bus will wait you at the end of the Suburban Railway System (Proastiakos) line. Notice that the bus service is offered officialy from the railway company, but is not as frequent as the train service.

By Bus (~3h)
Intercity bus service, KTEL (Common Bus Receipts Funds) are specific character transport bus companies that serve all public regular road transports of our country. To get to the intercity bus, you need to go to the Kifissos KTEL Bus Station of Athens.

From the airport you may use the X93 express city bus (about 60 minutes) or take a taxi (about 20 minutes). At the KTEL station look for the ACHAIA-PATRA teller to buy a ticket. Buses to Patras leave every 30 minutes.
